TWO WEEKS BEFORE CONCEPTION MEANS ALL THE TIME

America is the only country where you can legally be carrying a man’s baby before you ever even meet him.

Actually if you go to any doctor’s office when you’re pregnant, they count the first two weeks as the two weeks starting when you had your last period. Every single person who carries to 40 weeks only actually was pregnant for 38, that’s just how obgyns measure it.

I remember when I was first going to my doc when I was pregnant and being like “But I had not even met this guy yet when you’re saying this started.” And the nurse was all, “No babe, the 40 week countdown starts with your last period,” because they use it to gauge when you ovulated maybe? I don’t know. Also that was a paraphrase. Nobody called me babe, even when I was suddenly single at six months.

Either way- I was being told this at the doc’s over four years ago, so I’m not sure why this is suddenly being considered news… … . ?
